9. ‘Cookies’ and Tracking Technologies

Cookies and Local Storage. We, and third-parties as described in Section 7 herein, use cookies and browser local storage, and collect information from the computer, mobile phone, or other device you use to access the Websites. This information is automatically collected.

Cookies are small data files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. Local storage is a web browser feature that allows websites to store data locally on your device. Like cookies, local storage helps us remember your preferences and provide you with a better user experience. For instance, we use cookies to authenticate your login session and local storage to help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current Site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies and local storage to help us compile aggregate data about Site traffic and Site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

We may use cookies or localStorage to:

  • Help remember and process the items in the shopping cart.
  • Compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interactions in order to offer better Site experiences and tools in the future. We may also use trusted third-party services that track this information on our behalf.
  • Track certain preferences and to personalize your experience. For example, we use local storage to determine which color scheme preference we should use (e.g. Dark Mode or Light Mode).
  • If you’ve purchased a course, we track and display your course progress in your account page.

You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You can also clear your browser’s local storage. You do this through your browser settings. Since each browser is a little different, look at your browser’s Help Menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies and clear local storage.

While you may disable the use of cookies or clear local storage through your browser’s settings or options page, you may lose some of the features and functionality of the Sites, Courses, Services, and/or Products, as cookies and local storage are necessary to help enhance your experience on the Site and maintain your login session.
